My reading group are currently reading Phillip Pullman's "The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ". It is a fictional biography of a guy named Jesus, and his twin brother Christ. The pace is pretty fast, and the chapters short. My brain is playing out the whole thing like a primary school nativity play. I am not sure it is supposed to be making ( Read more... )

Last night an article from The Independent of a protest in Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire, was brought to my attention by a Twitter friend of mine. What the town is doing is simply brilliant: “Library emptied in bid to fight closure”.

I have just received an email from Bupa, asking me to confirm my postal address, in order for them to start sending out race packs for the Great North Run (half marathon)! Eek. I've just finished reading 'Annie on my mind' by Nancy Garden. A story of two teenage girls who fall in love in New York that, I think, was first published in 1982.  I really liked it.  Hard to explain why, it just made me smile.
