Wow - This week has been chock full of weird. Bags of good things happened last week and every time I managed to steal away 5 minutes to be able to document aforementioned goodness, my mind went to sleep and nada...
Anyways... BIG news is that my holiday, that has been in the planning for over a year, has finally got moving - flights were booked last weekend! Yay! Had a little panic in the midst of booking...couldn't remember where I'd put the credit card for 'safe keeping' lol Problem solved quickly though as it was in the usual place...but you know when you just have a moment of doubt? So much excitement, i don't think I've spoke about anything else since. We leave late September, after my mam's 50th birthday - there was almost a war on because she thought we'd be away for her birthday - and don't fly back into the UK until the end of October. I can't wait... for any of it, but at this very moment, a whole month away from work has me all a quiver. I'm so tired right now. It mean's someone else will have to do some work for a change. I've told 'em to get their staff sorted out - Ha!
Sooo we're flying to Seattle (yep fangirl squeee did indeed occur ...even though we all know Greys Anatomy is filmed in LA lol) and then on to Alaska. Going to kick about in Alaska for a week, go see some glaciers, take a trip up into the Arctic Circle and then fly down to San Francisco!! I'm sooo excited about San Francisco, it's unreal. It's always been one of my 'If I've not been before I'm 30, then I'm booking even if I have to go alone' destinations. Seeing as I hit the big 3-0 at the end of this year, I'm just in the nick of time ;O) I seem to have been given free reign to plan the San Francisco part of our journey. I have to find a hotel, choose what we're going to do when we're there etc.... so any suggestions from people who may stumble across this post are most welcome and gratefully received. I've not started really looking into properly it yet but so far we've got the obvious ...ride a tram, Alcatraz, and the Golden Gate Bridge in some way, shape or form. I've got a huge black and white picture of the GGB above my bed that I'd quite like to replace with one I've taken myself. After San Francisco, we're heading back up north to Canada to visit Churchill, Manitoba, to have a waltz on the Tundra buggies and see if we can catch a glimpse of the great Polar Bears. It's going to be awesome. Then we finish up in Vancouver to see how much it's changed after the Olympics and to do all of the things we didn't get to do last time around. It's going to be so tiring and it's probably going to wipe out my bank account but oh so worth it. I've already started sorting out photographic equipment and the likes.
It sometimes freaks me out spending large sums of money in one go, BUT as I've been told numerous times over the last few months, I save my money for this very reason. I enjoy life through my camera lens and the company of a suitcase. The only thing missing at the moment is someone to share it all with...
