For someone who does not usually care for New Year's Eve, I have to say I quite enjoyed this one.
After I finished work, Mam and I went to the Winter Carnival in Newcastle to kick off the celebrations. It was a lot of fun. We had a little boogie to the fireworks.
This (35s video) may have been my favourite part of the finale. Due to it being New Year's Eve though, and the fact that the local transport systems shut down early, we were almost stranded in town.
After the Carnival, we met up with the rest of the family and had our usual shenanigans at Julie's this year... think Singstar, Guitars, Kids, Food, Laughs, Cocktails, Jool's Hootenanny, first-foot etc. Speaking of Hootenanny, there was a heated debate over Kylie Minogue just after champagne and kisses at midnight. She appeared on the show this year and my cousins husband said he found her quite annoying. Wrong thing to say in the presence of a couple of us lol; I think he learned his lesson ;O)
We are back home now and everyone has gone off to bed as Gary is working tomorrow and needs to be up around 5am. I am re-toasting the New Year with a cup of hot tea, bopping about to Top of the Pops II (Dead or Alive are currently playing), while I wonder where my little legs might take me this year...
Tomorrow I will post about what 2010 meant for me.
For all those with celebrations still to come - have a good one! :O)
We started on a good note, and I hope it continues as such.
I hope 2011 is all you want it to be.
