Weekend

My body is still fighting whatever lurgy I got sent away from work with on Thursday; though it is nothing too serious, I just do not currently have a voice, which I am sure pleases some folk!

Friday was fun despite the throaty grogginess. I met up up with wor 'lizbeth for a few cheeky drinks after work, before meeting up at a local Italian with the rest of the Team, who I had left beautifying in the office. J had bought us all Santa hats, which we all obligingly wore during dinner and for the rest of the night. After we ate, had some giggles, and put the world to rights, I left the others to it and headed to The Sage to see an awesome Thea Gilmore gig. Thea is a super talented folk singer-songwriter - I ♥ this lady. Seriously. On a random note, I think Thea's is the only gig I go to where she and Nigel actually re-tune their guitars between songs.

Santa's Work Shop (local branch) has been in full swing today. I have baked biscuits / cookies and mincemeat brownies to go with some Christmas gifts for a few friends at work, and wrapped all my family gifts. There are just a couple of tiny things I am waiting on Mr Postman bringing...

Something AWESOME:
There was a small package on my desk when I arrived at work on Friday. Unwrapped, I found a photograph frame with a poem on display.

We know you didn't want a fuss
Just because you've turned thirty
But we couldn't let this time pass by
So don't get yourself all shirty!

We thought we'd mention Metros
And how you just abhor them
And then there's Tesco's dare we say
You'd rather starve than go there!

There are some things we know you like
...Like snow and Polar Bears
And not forgetting Jasper !
After that you say 'Who cares'

We have shared so many happy times
So thank you for being a friend
And hopefully you think we're not so bad ?
Your three comrades to the end!

Joking aside we just wanted to say
How we treasure the friendship we share
And wish you all the very best
And let you know how much we care

music, blah, thea gilmore, awesome, birthday, friends
