Happy 175th Birthday to the Old Lady of Grey Street!

Feb 22, 2012 20:43

One of the theatre's in Newcastle -Theatre Royal- celebrated it's 175th birthday this weekend.  To mark the occasion, they held a birthday street party over four nights.  The Birthday Blaze consisted of hourly light and firework shows after dark, birthday cake for everyone, street performances, and lots of fun - all for free.  I love the theatre, and our Theatre Royal is a special one.  Here's to the next big milestone! :O)

These are a few of my favourite photographs from Sunday night festivities, along with a little video of the light show.  I apologise for the naff quality of the video; it was taken on my phone and I was snapping pictures at the same time :O/  All of my (decent) photographs from the night are viewable via my flickr page.

Birthday Blaze Footage:

There are some photographs from the Quayside, taken on the same night, in another flickr set too.  I am a little bit chuffed with how my Swing Bridge/High Level Bridge shot came out, and I have also come to realise how much I love the Sage Music Centre. I love my city :O)
