The way you write Ten makes me love him more, I think. He's so much darker than he comes across on the show, so much more ruthless, but still totally in character. And he reacts to Rose the way Nine did, which makes me happy.

I wanted to portray that in this chapter, really, so your comment about him still being in character really makes me smile. I really think that with the right frame of mind, Ten really could sink to these sorts of depths.
And it's good you love him more. So do I. I might write him in some nice happy fluff, to give him a bit of a break!

That hurt so acutely. I don't know what to say about the Doctor, so much of what he does is up to his own discretion but I don't know about manipulating Rose like that. I'm hoping there'll be repercussions , but then again, those would be so hurtful to both the Doctor and Rose.
I love Ten but I think in reality, he's so ruthless at times. Maybe more so than the others.
Rose, as always, is amazing. She sees what the Doctor has done, how he feels about it and, I assume, that their sexual encounter is selfish on the Doctor's part, but she loves him still. Because that's who Rose is. She loves the Doctor because she knows everything about him and accepts that.
Amazing chapter, it was dark, really dark, but I think it's still really in character. Tremendously well done.

The point wasn't the sex, it was that, in essence, his Time War angst hasn't gone away over time. In fact, it's got worse. Yes, Rose helps with that, that's why he takes 'advantage' of her... You always hurt the one you love, and all that.
People seem to forget, so often, that Nine and Ten are the same man. Ten is older, technically, but he still lived through it -- whatever 'it' was -- and in "Welcome To Your Life" Nine was definitely very, very angsty about it.
I didn't want to ignore that, as so many people seem to have done.
He's also, y'know, just met Satan and been told Rose is going to die, so he's a little messed up in the brain anyway XD
*pats him*
It's all better from here on out.
if you discount Doomsday, that is. *shifty*

I think, realistically, sex isn't always about love and devotion to a person, sometimes it is just about feeling better. I don't think that makes Ten in this story a bad person or out of character. If anything it faces the realities that come with living through centuries of pain and suffering.
The end of the Satan's Pit arc does have sort of a sad quality to it anyway. Rose's smile at the end of the episode is very wistful (maybe because it was Billie's last episode to film). But I think the tone and emotion of your story is perfectly in step with the episode.
That said, I'm looking forward to some fluff.

OMG he did not. I hope she manages to keep those memories somehow.
**is in shock** I feel hollowed out and cold.
This is so good I'm afraid to go work on my fic.
Your characters are spot on given some of the past experiences that they have each had. Ten is so human here (with alien abilities.) Brilliant.
