I don't know enough about BSG to understand much of this, but the B5 parts were really good.

That "Poor buggers in Downbelow" sounded like a very English phrase to me thought, not a Garibaldi word to use.

I'd suggest "poor bastards": "buggers" as I understand it in the US is rare and used only in the original completely hostile and specifically homophobic way.

I did not read your post in depth, sorry you wasted the time: I'm planning to start on BSG shortly.

5) This is where the pilot of BSG happens. (You know: Cylons attack, humanity gets wiped out except for the last 40.000 or so who manage to get away, etc.) Without their memories, Ellen and Saul Tigh (the XO on Galactica) still managed to end up married again. They're a very Edward Albee, George and Martha type of middle aged couple; Saul Tigh is an alcoholic with temper issues, Ellen drinks too much as well, and when they argue, she tends to cheat on him, plus she and his best friend (the show's lead, Bill Adama) really despise each other, but they've both also proven that they'd go through hell for the other. By the start of the third season, we get to the occupation arc, where for various plot reasons the humans had attempted to settle down on an empty planet, and when the Cylons caught up with them, ended up occupied. At this point, the organic Cylons had started to divide into factions, one of which pleaded for co-existence instead of annihilation. The occupation was a first attempt of co-existence and of course a horribly ( ... )
