Inside or outside,

Or both? I set up an automatic waterer today. After a couple resets and fiddling around to reduce dripping, it appears to be working reliably. My dogs spend long periods of time outside when the weather is good and I'm not at home. It is not overly warm here, maybe 75-80 degrees at the most and they have the shade of the breezeway. I figured an automatic waterer was a good idea to provide fresh, clean water all the time, without me remembering to refill it all the time.  When I'm home in the summer, I often leave the door open. I'm wondering about getting rid of the water inside the house. It isn't a big problem, but it gathers dog hair and dirt. The waterer outside is under cover, so the dogs can get a drink without getting wet if its raining. If the weather gets too cold, I'll have to shut off the water anyway, so I would put out a bowl for them inside. But I think it'd be nice to keep the water outside. They get water in their food every meal, so I'm wondering if they even need water inside most of the year. What do folks do?
