Question of perspective on Medians.

Introduction: I was pointed to this community by a x-posted entry in another com that I frequent. Having never read or really thought much of Multiples/DID/MPD, I did some e-research based on this com's homepage. For intro purposes, I guess I'd have to off-the-cuff self-indentify as a "singlet ( Read more... )

So, what's the difference between listening to yourself as simply an aspect of "yourself" and getting to the point where those aspects are other selves in themselves?Perspective and semantics ( ... )

Hey Kiya, nice to talk to you in person! I really enjoyed your essay; thought it was very well written and conceptually insightful!

Perspectives and semantics being the major difference is pretty much the same thing I walked away with from your essay, as well, but thank you for the additional clarification.

Is this specifically directed at medians? The reason I ask, is because we don't identify as median, and my answer may not be entirely relevant.

At any rate, here is our two cents. We're not aspects. She's not my inner raver, any more than I am her inner metalhead.

Here are some practical examples:
If I for some reason decide to wave a glowstick around, it's me waving the glowstick, rather than her. If she decides she wants to wave said glowstick, we switch, and she proceeds to wave it around. To change the topic to something more commonly discussed, the whole anger issue. If she thinks I was too rough on someone in a fit of anger, she'll tell me, and it will be her telling me. If I later calm down, and no longer feel my actions were excusable, I'll feel as though I was wrong. She is not my compassionate side, nor am I her rage. We come with our own little angels and devils on our shoulders. Me being amoral, is different from her being amoral, just as me being nice, is different from her being nice ( ... )

Essentially, I am proceeding from the assumption that you are trying to ascertain the difference between a median and a multiple, perceptually.

At any rate, here is my two cents. You're thinking about this in a way that does not necessarilly apply to all systems. The other people are not by necessity aspects which have gotten to the point of being other selves, although in some cases, that may be exactly what happens ( ... )

May I suggest notpluralenough? Excellent place for chattering about plurality v. median v. singlet issues. I'd love to see you there. ;-)
