It doesn't get any better than this...

...so I'm releasing MultiLJ for beta-testing.

The download can be found on the web site whose link is on the profile page for this community. Any feedback is appreciated, as I'm sure there are a few things to be ironed out yet, between the program, the Help, and the installation.

Essentially, I've followed the convention of the clients that are on the Downloads page. Granted, in retrospect, it might have been a good idea to put an additional link on the announcement post, as well, but what's there seems to be the standard.

Flaws I've noticed right off the bat:

- Needs hotkeys for italics/bold/URL/etc. Use the same ones as Semagic if possible.
- Doesn't seem to handle unicode. My method of adding an emdash (-) is holding Alt and hitting 0151 on my numeric keypad. The program accepts this as input, but when I go to the LJ entry afterward, it has replaced it with a ?.
- Needs a method of using the mood icon for a preset mood but typing in a custom one to replace the name.

1) Hotkeys on the post editor's toolbar would be a good idea - I'll look into that. It probably didn't cross my mind because even when I was using Semagic, I'd invariably grab for my trackball rather than use a hotkey - I find myself not quite trusting my memory when it comes to hotkeys.

2) I'll look into the conversion factor regarding Unicode. The thing is, anything other than letters and numbers that you type in a post goes through a rather bizarre conversion process, and it's likely that I'm not handling Unicode characters correctly during that conversion.

3) Ah, so you can request the "sad" icon with the dropdown, and then type "bawling my eyes out"? Let me look into that one - there's a mood word and a moodid, and I think it's the moodid that sets the icon. If that's the case, then it's just a matter of letting the user set the dropdown first, then letting them type over the word.

I like the ability to cascade windows and what not, but i think an inbox would be grand!

Could you elaborate? Do you mean a place for comments based on your posts?

yeah and just for messages... like the regular inbox at livejournal. also a comment notification would be great. i'm not sure how any of that would work, or if it's possible, but it seems like it should be.
