Welcome to the end of the world.
The setting: the United States, during the outbreak of Captain Trips, formally known as Project Blue: a government-engineered virus which will in the span of nineteen days wipe out roughly 99.4% of the world's population.
You are immune. You are also not meant to be here. You might have been doing battle with intergalactic forces, rescuing princesses, or enjoying a nice cup of tea in the comfort of your home that is bigger-on-the-inside. But you are here, now, in the midst of this plague and its aftermath, and you are just as human as everyone else, even if you were not human yesterday.
Then, of course, there is the Network. No one knows who started it, or how the system is operated, but even in the early stages of the plague, no government officials could hack it, shut it down, or track its users, and it became a corner of cyberspace where people logged on to tell the rest of the world what they were seeing -- how the government silenced those who spoke the truth about Captain Trips, the hospitals filling up, and those dreams...those horrible, bizarre dreams -- dreams of two figures, one light and one dark, beckoning you to them from across the nation. Dreams also of other survivors, just longing for a connection with anyone that is still alive in this graveyard. Just like you.
The Network is the only thing that confirms that the people you see when your eyes close may, in fact, exist. Somehow, even as the power fails in cities across the country, it is still going, its efficient machines seeming to recharge with the rising sun every morning.
Once Project Blue has run its course, the United States will have become a wasteland strewn with billions of bodies. In the summer sun the great cities, for all their treasures left behind, may very well choke you to death with the stench of decay. You must choose to stay where you are -- where there are no answers, no solutions -- or to heed your dreams, find these people and, with luck, the way home.
Applications and reservations are now being accepted. Official Opening Date is July 1st, 2011.
Project Blue is a Post-Apocalyptic RPG based on Stephen King's The Stand. Knowledge of the book is not necessary to play. It will feature elements of horror, survivial, and city-building and will contain a continuous, over-arching plot.
