Jamie's time at Fandom was done. And so after a fond farewell to his favorite principal, he grabbed his duffel bag and headed for the mainland. Where was he going to go? Well actually he had no idea. Perhaps he would walk the roads of America and find some adventures out there.

Right after he answered his phone which had just started to ring.

"Layla!" Jamie said cheerfully. "What's the good word?"

"Phoenix," she replied.

"Oh, god," Jamie said coming to a dead stop. "Don't tell me Jean's back. Again."

"No," Layla replied. "Keep walking. I'm talking about the satellite Phoenix. It's currently being used by the Pentagon to harvest unused equipment from defunct communication satellites."

"Really," Jamie said in a flat tone as he stepped off the causeway onto the mainland. "And that's the reason why you called me?"

"No," Layla replied cheerfully. "I called at this precise moment to tell you to take three steps to the left."

Jamie paused and frowned and took a couple of steps to the left. "And what does taking three steps to the left have to do with satellites?"

"Well being the Pentagon, they were having some problems this morning with-"

Jamie winced as a burst of static went through the speaker followed by a what was a loud whistling noise. But that wasn't on the phone.

"What was that, Layla?" Jamie shouted as he put a hand over his open ear. "There's a loud whistling noise."

There was a long sigh at the other end of the phone. "Sorry, Jamie," she said sadly, "But you'll understand after what happens. Also take one more step to the left."

"What?" Jamie shouted into the phone. "What happens n-"

Up in the sky a hunk of a communications satellite which had been dislodged by a Pentagon harvesting system fell through the atmosphere. The bulk of disintegrated in the atmosphere leaving just enough debris to land on Jamie and dissipate him in a small fireball.

Killing him instantly.
