5:45 PM 5/5/07 · Just got off the phone with
Corin, who saw Spidey 3 last night. I've heard a tonnage of rants and comments and mini·reviews of this film since the earliest screenings came out. Not one of them comes close to what she had to say about it and I almost fell over, which is saying something as I was laying down at the time, from the shock of it.
Keeping in mind I've not seen this movie as yet, what
Corin said makes me both wanna see it and move out to the desert and never see it...or any other movie ever again.
Enough build·up. This is how she described it: "It's the worst Spidey movie to ever come out and the funniest Austin Powers movie ever".
Apparently there's something around the middle where Parker is acting very Austin like. I'm not sure I get that, though she did an excellent job of describing it, but it might hurt my head to actually watch it.
I intend to see it this coming Friday or Saturday.
One of my favorite rants about this movie came from
Theide, who among other things said "Die Raimi, DIE!!!"
I suspect, what with the demanding his money back and everything, that he didn't particularly care for the film. The one thing he said that really stuck with me was that Venom is completely and utterly destroyed. That's all there is, there ain't no more, doo daa!
This doesn't fit with what
Corin said, who also giggled at the "Die Raimi, DIE!!!" (which I feel I'll share with everyone cuz that's just beautiful) as she said there's plenty of opportunities for Venom to come back.
Maybe even Carnage.
She said there were many bits of the symbiote still wrigging around afterwards and also a sample that some scientist has; Peter apparently snipped him off a piece for analysis.
Whatever the case, I'm not happy that Venom is in this film. He's such a significant character that the original belief of just seeing a snippet of him before the end credits, for a primary role in the 4th film, would've been ideal. Haven't seen it myself as yet, like I said, but regardless of whether I hate it or love it...that opinion will not change.
Venom should've had a whole movie as the one and only adversary; anything less is an insult.
