I usually tape Heroes when it comes on, just in case I'm late getting home, but I keep making the same mistake each time. I default set the thing to tape from 9pm to 10pm but the show isn't on for just an hour. It's an hour + 2 minutes. Like this past weeks' got cut off just as Claire's mother was calling her real father.
Have to admit, I was a bit surprised by who that was. I was expecting Linderman...guy's gotta be a major player for being mentioned in practically every episode but we still haven't seen him.
Unless he's the invisible man...which I don't necessarily mean just figuratively.

ubergeeks 11:44 AM 2/6/07 · Working out how things work in any given fandom, nitpicking all the little details, is my nature. Heroes is fun for me because it's kinda like what you'd expect from a comicbook gone to screen excepting there wasn't a comic to start out with...
...and I'm all about the comics:
- Ted (Radioactive Guy): seems unlikely. Killed a loved one when his power initilized and he seems truly remorseful. He's demonstrated attempts to get his power under conrol even though he does demonstrate some leakeage, like in the graveyard. Whether that's a true sign of his ability being a bit out of his hands or that he just naturally has a constant low grade radioative aura is unclear. Then again, his powers seem to flar with the level of his emotions so if he were upset enough there's every possibility he might go all explodey.
- Peter: possible in that he doesn't have a handle on his power and when he absorbs a portion of someone else's the first time it tends to cut loose on its own. Still it seems unlikely he could cut loose with that much of a blast so quickly. He's begun to gain control but his control varies still; you see him flying with Claude and if you watch his face you can see a level of uncertainty as he's maintaining altitude. Dissimilar to Ted in that when he's angry he seems to have even more control of his ability...Peter could go nuclear if he somehow lost his confidence. Although, how he'd go nuclear is sketchy...he's never even met Ted; unless the assumption is that the number of abilities he has soaked up could result in an explosion if his control slipped.
- Sylar: you would think this guy would be the most obvious choice but I think this makes him less likey. Plus, his primary ability is knowing how things work, being how he figures out how his new abilities work so quickly, makes it seem even more unlikely. If the resulting explosion comes from someone losing control of their abilities I'm positive it will not be Sylar. The ability to figure out powers and incorporate them into himself so that they all continue to function must come with how to maintain safeguards so the abilities do not override his body's level of containment. Of course, the more abilities he takes on the harder it will be for him to maintain control; there's gotta be an upper limit how many alterations he can make to himself...unless he gets to a point where he can remove some abilities in favor of others.
- Mr. Linderman: we know almost nothing about this guy, other than he holds a kind of Mafia Godfather type position, but he's so deeply ingrained into all the lives of everyone else he seems a likely character to me. That and the Invisible Man's recent revelation to Peter that there have been others with abilities like his makes me wonder if Lindermen might not be another "empath". There's no basis for any of this other than my own ponderings but the hint that there may be others like Peter wrapped up in a world where we hear about Linderman from every corner of everything but little to no detail is revealed about him...it just fits. To say there's more means they'd have to show more but the only player we know the least about is Linderman; other than the mention of the implied "Mr." status we only have that to assume he's male. His isolation may be, if he's an empath, a safeguard to avoid absorbing abilities...if that changed the sudden rush of powers, say if the one he's around is Peter, could cause a massive explosion.
- Micah: while beyond unlikely someone recently pointed out a similarity between the kid and Sylar's actual power. I'm not entirely sure I buy it but I suppose I'd be irresponsible to ignore it completely. The feeling is that Micah either works out how things work and can improve them, like Sylar can, or that he's a technopath. If it's the latter than it is highly unlikely he'll ever go kaboom. If it's the first and he has an ability like Sylar's he still wouldn't be at risk for exploding unless he started altering himself to incorporate others abilities. There's just not enough information to tell one way or the other as yet.
This all applies to everything we've seen so far but may be excluding Ted if he blows up tonight.
