Webheads 10:09 PM 11/9/06 · Guess I lucked out in that while I wasn't watching The Real World, though I have enjoyed previous seasons, but while I was watching Shark they showed the 2nd trailer to the 3rd Spidey film slated to come out May 4th.
- They've got Sandman slated as being the actual killer of Ben Parker which is just wrong. While the character's always been a hardened killer he's never had anything to do with the Parker family. Then again, in the 1st Batman movie they had the Joker slated as the killer of Bruce's parents which was also way off base.
- There's nothing in the trailer to give any clue as to where the symbiote costume originated but it's definitely having an effect. In both identities, Spidey & Peter, the guy's going through massive rages like someone manic. It should be noted that the behavior changes that he's is going through didn't originate in the comics but the animated series. In the original version any behavior changes evident in Spidey were from exhaustion as the costume leapt on him in his sleep and made him go out (sleep webswinging?) doing the vigilante bit on its own.
- While the costuming is definitely different, Harry Osborne is definitely a new Goblin. No idea if he's using a name or not, probably too much to hope he's going by Hobgoblin even though the comic character was just another Green Goblin, but I like the improvements in the outfit. Less of that silly armor look in the first movie and more like something you'd've seen in the comics.
- There's a Gwen Stacy in this (you'd know the actor if you've seen Dead Like Me) but she's barely in the trailer at all.
- Sandman got his powers from hiding from the cops in a atomic weapons testing range in the comics. Can't say for sure what's going on in the trailer but he seems to be in some kinda cyclotron...which doesn't explain the sand. Hopefully this will make more sense when the movie comes out.
- Eddie Brock, what there is to see of him, is kind of a wimp. He comes across more like Jimmy Olsen. Even if there is a lead to a future Venom from combining him with the symbiote...he just doesn't have the build for it. The reason Venom was so big and veiny was because Brock was an obsessive body builder. Even in the animated series Brock was built big. Definitely don't see the animosity the Brock had for Spidey.
- The costume doesn't have the transformative abilities it's supposed to. While it does flow on him, and off to degrees, you can clearly see Peter wearing clothes over it at points so it's not like it can take on the appearance of other clothes.
- In classic Spidey fashion it's evident that the city is totally in love with him in the beginning so naturally the costume pops on him and makes him an amoral vigilante in time to trash his reputation again. The man just cannot get a comfortable life.
