a/n: I hope that you like this. I don’t have much experience writing bmw, but I wanted to give you a fandom that you were interested in, so hopefully there’s something in there you like. (also in my head this is set somewhere between s2 or s3)

“Ow.” Cory let out a huff of air.

“Shhh. Someone will hear you.”

“Well then don’t walk into me and then I won’t be in pain and need to say ‘ow’.”

“You were the one who stopped suddenly.” Shawn says.

“I thought I heard something.” Cory says, and he did, he thought he heard heels. Somewhere close.

They had skipped class to do this, but still, there was such a thing as a bathroom pass. Plus they had waited until the coast was clear to slip into uncharted territory. That had taken time.

And excuse him if he didn’t want to be caught in the girls’ bathroom.

“It was probably from outside. Now be quiet, we have to find that list.” Shawn shrugs, pushing Cory further into the room.

“You just want your name to be number one on it.”

“I just want to be…on it.”

“Yeah.” Cory rolls his eyes. His friend wanted him and his hair to be number one on that stupid “hottest guy list”. He was just hoping to make alternate for their grade.

Apparently they had those too. Girls were thorough like that.

“Shut up.” Shawn says, his hands in his hair as he glances around for writing.

“Good idea. It’s not like we were trying to be stealthily or anything.”

“The girl’s bathroom is a lot cleaner than ours…” Shawn says as he moves to check out around the sinks.

“Probably says something about us.” Cory says moving to look around one of the stalls.

The first one was a bust. But he did learn a few things about his classmates.

“Hey, they get flowers. We don’t get flowers.” Shawn distracts him.

“Why would we want flowers?”

“I didn’t until I knew it was an option.” He says, putting the plastic vase down harder than necessary.

“Just be quiet and keep looking for the list. Eric said it was in here somewhere.” Cory said going for the next stall.

A moment later, Shawn was pushing his way in next to him.

“What are you-”

“Someone’s definitely coming. A girl someone.”

“Shut the door!”

“What happens if one of them try to come in here?” Shawn asks suddenly breaking silence.

“Lock the door.” Cory says, already halfway on the toilet and a minute later, Shawn awkwardly joins him.

“This was so not in the plan.”

--

The door opens and Missy and Melissa come in giggling.

“Did you see what Shannon was wearing?”

“Did you see what Maria was wearing?”

They giggled again.

Shawn and Cory shared looks, neither girl seemed to be coming towards the bathroom stalls. Instead they standing in front of the mirrors and checking their makeup. Or adding more to it.

Shawn could smell Missy’s lip gloss.

He liked it.

A few minutes and some idle gossip later that made both their mouths hang open and the other one cover them, something actually happened.

Or something worth standing on a toilet with your best friend for.

“I have another name.” Missy says passing a note to Melissa. “Third Period Spanish took a vote.”

“It’s about time.”

The door opened again and this time it was a very familiar voice.

“You guys aren’t seriously still doing that list of cute boys?” Topanga asks. You could hear her rolling her eyes.

Actually hear it.

That or Cory was looking out the little crack of the bathroom stall.

“It’s fun.” Missy smiles.

“It’s driving all the boys even crazier than they already were.”

“That’s the fun part.”

“Did you vote?” Melissa asks.

“None of my classes have gotten the ballot yet.” Topanga says taking her own place in front of the mirrors, smoothing down her hair.

Apparently that’s just what they did in here, Cory decided.

“Want to know who the newest addition is?” Melissa asks holding up the note.

“No. And I’d tell you why but then we’d all be late for class.” Topanga says. She gave them a look that before then, Cory thought was strictly used on him and Shawn and then whipped her long, long, hair behind her as she left.

Eventually the other two girls follow.

--

“I think I pulled something.” Shawn says as he climbs down, rubbing his side.

“I definitely don’t think toilets were meant for that.” Cory says as he climbs down too, following Shawn out the unlocked door.

“I hope not.” Shawn says with a little shiver.

The two look around and notice a piece of paper by the sinks.

“You don’t think…”

“They wouldn’t…”

They both reached out for the paper.

They knocked it into the sink instead.

The wet sink.

“We didn’t.”

“We did.”

“Well, I’m sure it’s-”

“All soapy and wet, yep, I’m sure too.” Cory says.

“We still have to look.” Shawn says.

“We’d hate ourselves if we didn’t.” Cory says.

“And we don’t need that. Enough people don’t like us already,” Shawn says, “We don’t need to add ourselves to the list.”

“You make good sense.”

Cory reaches for the paper, taking a deep breath as he opens it.

It’s written in pink ink. Almost all of it smudged and mixed together. You could tell it formed a word (a name) but you couldn’t quite make it out.

“I think that’s an ‘r’.” Shawn says, his head tilted.

“Or an ‘n’.” Cory says, tilting his head the other way. “Can you make out the first letter?”

“I think it’s the one with the soap suds on it.”

“So….an ‘r’ or an ‘n’, huh?” Cory says, “I guess that could be either one of us…”

“Yeah.” Shawn says his chest puffing up. “Definitely could be.”

“Good.”

“Good.”

They both nodded.
