My "smart money" says that this is being covered on Current TV by a certain sportscaster turned newscaster with a particularly large cranium. Why "Current TV," only? Because current TV was covering the Rupert Murdoch/News Corp. scandal before anyone else in the states even glossed over it; they've stuck with it, and have continued to report on the very real possibility that News Corp. may have hacked cell phones of 9/11 victims. In other words, they're covering stories that generally are being ignored by the other cable news channels.

You don't need me to explain why this isn't covered by FOX News; if they ever mentioned it, it would be in celebration of the bill passing. CNN refuses to take a stance on anything, so they won't touch this because that would require having a spine, or balls, or both. MSNBC's dirty little secret is that the president of the company is notoriously conservative, even though their anchors are rather liberal.

Current TV is a bit different though; it's largely controlled by Al Gore, yes that Al Gore. The "problem" with Current TV, as the newscaster with the giant cranium who left MSNBC has discovered, is that the channel isn't available on most cable TV packages. I get it through Satellite, but I've admittedly been bad about getting up to the set that I can watch it on. Hopefully other providers will pick it up, but unlike FOX NEWS/CNN/MSNBC, it's not owned by a larger company, so it doesn't have to answer to the same type of corporate hierarchy, and the people running it actually hire newscasters who represent their views.

As for the backwards amendment itself, it unfortunately fits in with the mentality of Mississippi. Mississippi democrats are known to be rather conservative, which is why they'll vote for something like this, and the state is insanely religious, which is largely what leads to this type of law. The thing that's important to remember is that these types of groups always try to introduce this type of law in all 50 states, and that's when they tend to fail.

If you want to take this to the mainstream media, or about as close as you can get now, hit up Keith Olbermann on Twitter; you just might get the ball rolling if it isn't already on Current TV. If the ball is rolling on Current TV, it'll soon roll on MSNBC since they know that Keith has taken their audience from them, and that might lead to CNN waking up, although I'm not holding my breath.

Still the idea of such a law passing disturbs me, and I'm glad that you brought this to my attention aibou. Now let's bring it to the attention of others.
