After getting Val's and Naminé's message this morning he had hoped he had been done.

Turns out? Not so much. And then? Cameron called. And when Jamie went to post Cam among those who had disappeared, he'd seen that Greg was gone as well

Isabel had been checking the list on a regular basis, and had most of the names on it memorized. Which was why she immediately noticed the addition of Cam's name.

Remembering last night's phone call, and having heard radio, she felt it was her duty as a Meerkat to check up on an uphappy Stickbug.

Which was why she was sitting on the front steps of Ronan's house and dialing a number.

*ring* *ring*

Jamie eyed the phone and contemplated letting it go to voicemail. And then wondered if that would make things worse or better.

"Whoever this is," he said finally answering the phone. "You better not be calling me to say goodbye and then get eaten by black clouds because I so can't take that right now."

"Not a black cloud in sight," Isabel promised. At least not at the moment. "I just wanted to and say hi. And thanks for that voicemail. That was you right? A gremlin didn't run off with your phone?"

"Oh God," Jamie groaned. "I'm not sure who I called last night. There was... there was a lot of alcohol. Is this Isabel? You're here right?"

"It is. I'm here in Fandom, staying at Ronan's house for a while." It was just a casual vacation til the world ended.

"I kind of figured there was alcohol involved. Radio also said cheesecake, geese and Klondike bars. Are you feeling okay today?"

"Today, I've learned that four more of friends are gone, my face was pecked on by a goose and I feel like I licked a shag carpet," Jamie replied as he fed another Slim Jim to Temari's weasel. "And yesterday... God. Between Aeryn, John, Peter and my girlfriend-"

Jamie let out a sigh.

"I'm doing the best I can."

Some of his friends were her friends as well and Isabel had shed her own tears for them.

"It's all any of us can do. At least at this point." It would be so much better if there were things to hit. Is there anything I can for you? A cup of coffee? Breakfast or something?"

"I would say if you can find that guy with the time traveling phone booth? That would be excellent right now," Jamie half-joked. "Otherwise I'd take a day without a bad phone call."

"I wouldn't have a problem with that. I've only gotten one like that and that was bad enough," she said quietly. "I'm afraid to ask how many you've gotten."

"Four. One was a letter from Temari. My girlfriend," Jamie replied. "Not a call but it counts in my book. The first one was Nadia Santos. Today it was Cameron, Valentine and Namine. I'm sorry about Greg."

"It totally counts," Isabel agreed immediately, thinking about how she would have felt if things had ended differently earlier in the evening. "That is a lot of calls. I'd say I'm sorry you had to get them all but I don't know. Isn't it better that we get the calls? So we can know and remember them?"

"I know. I know," Jamie said with a sigh. "I just don't think I can take another one."

"Which is completely understandable. You could always throw away your phone." The thought had crossed Isabel's mind this morning, but she couldn't do it. "But I can't see you doing that."

"No. Can't even do that," Jamie admitted. "I'm just hoping for one hopeful phone call. I just don't want to hear that I'm the last stickbug standing."

"Nobody's heard from Peter and Willow or Alanna and Kawalsky yet, Right?"

Look at those straws. Isabel was going to grasp at them mightily.

"I'm very much taking the no news is good news approach. And because we haven't heard from them, things are going well. They're safe and they're happy."

Jamie let out a long sigh. "Let's hope so."
