Dearest Diary,

I am tired of orcs. The ones that I have seen here in the north all seem to think only of war. War, and cruelty, and brutality. I have moved through a number of "our" camps and have listened, always on the fringes and from the shadows lest I be dragged away and conscripted, as they call it, to fight. Caeryn told me to be careful and quiet, and I am now doing as I was told. The leaders of these fortresses of violence are brutal and show no signs of compassion. They remind me of the humans at Lordamere.

To be truthful, not all of the orcs are without a spark of love in their hearts. I have met a few that have retained decency. They speak only in whispers - what a horrid people we have become when compassion and decency must be whispered - and they give me hope. Today I heard an orc leader order a person's legs to be broken as a punishment. That person was a Troll! A member of the Horde! Is this what we are? I had thought my fears of us being monsters inside were put to bed, but this...

My only ray hope for us has been the Whisperers.

They speak of Saurfang, a man I have spied only once when I was hustled through the Warsong Hold. I heard him speaking to another, younger man called Hellscream. From what I overheard, he understands the danger and horror of such blind rage and brutality. If these Whisperers are his agents, then I am drawn to him with all hope.

And where is Thrall? Is his heart as cold as these monsters with names like Garrosh, Agmar and Krenna? I had such high hopes for him, and thought about trying to meet him one day. Thrall the Brave, Thrall the Just. Like a hero in my books. But these are the people he sends to fight this war? If he is with them, then we are truly no better than the humans of Lordamere. But if he is with Saurfang... I pray he is.

Despite all of this I grow nearer to the magical forest the Tuskarr have told me about. The castle was a total bust; filled with dragons. I will move north and leave the blackness of my fellow orcs behind me. I will find Great Father Winter and save him from whatever danger he is in. My last stop before crossing into the magical Crystal Forest is a place called Kor'Kron. I can only hope I will be able to slip in and out of this camp as I have the others.

Rags and I will leave tonight. The stars are very bright and he is a peerless guide.
Love, Sara
