Have you ever been to 'The Grove'? I'm in love with it! It's a really nice shopping area, next to the Farmers Market - which is also nice.
No we don't have a car, because we're underage we can't hire. But we're considering buying bikes tomorrow so we can get around slightly better - walking in LA isn't particularly exciting.
Yeah same. I guess the people who hate it go to like...Hollywood Blvd and that's it. Because that's not such a nice area. I like Santa Monica, I really like West Hollywood (but apparently I'm a shopping addict and there are shops around where we're staying ha)
I could live here easily - on one condition. Decent salary and a car. LOL. Especially the car part.
Have you checked out Third Street Promanade? It's so cool!
I think LA's the one place in the US I could easily live in because of the weather. The other cities are great, but I don't think I could handle the weather long-term. It would kill me.
But yes, decent pay, instead of their awful minimum wage, and a good car are essential. By good car, I mean one that I don't have to worry about as a smog issue, since they have those smog testing things all over the place.
Have you guys thought about buying cheap roller blades instead of bikes? You could probably get some from a factory outlet. Of course this is assuming that you can rollerblade, and don't fall on your butt...
Yeah the weather is a major upside. I suffer majorly from SAD. I can't take overcast rainy weather for long - I blame growing up in a drought!
I think a red convertible is required for LA living ;-) hehe just to be stereotypical. Although really, if you live in a place like California why not have a convertible? Unlike Vancovuer where all the actors had convertibles, no idea why you can only use them twice a year lol!
We eyed rollerblades for about three seconds but we're looking up cars now lol, there are some places that rent to underagers they just slap you with a huge (almost double the price) fee for being under 21.
How dumb is that? Actors flashing around their convertibles in Vancouver. How ridiculous. That to me says it's all about show. How pretentious.
Please tell me Torri was smart enough NOT to have a convertible!
I think you'd handle driving in LA, so I doubt you'd need to worry about any insurance issues. Is that the daily rate that's more expensive, or the overheads, so to speak? If I can handle LA traffic on my own, you certainly can with two of you!
No, of course not. She's too smart for that in a rain soaked city.
Yeah, I think LA's fine to drive around. I didn't have any drastic problems. Just occasionally losing my way, but nothing I couldn't sort out. No different to driving in any other city. I'm surprised how many people over there seem to freak out at driving on the 'interstate'. Meh. Whatever. It's the same as driving on the freeways here. You share the roads with lots of other cars, and a lot of big trucks. Big deal.
Double the base amount? Wow. That's a lot of money. If we ever do our road trip, we should buy a very, very cheap bomb and just drive it until it dies.
The interstate is fine to drive on, the only road that was annoying was coming in from Santa Barbara at peak hour ha...that sucked.
Yeah buying a bomb is good. You can always sell it at the end lol. The only downside of buying a bomb is they're gas guzzlers...but I mean who wants to drive Route 66 (or wherever we go) in a new car anyway?
We have to catch up to discuss our trips when I get back lol.
Make sure you go to Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. It's very cool. Lots of excellent shops.
Also, if you have a car (do you have one?) go to Malibu. Beautiful. There's a pier, and there are all these birds there at sunset. Soooo pretty.

I'm attempting to upload a pic of the Grove for you but the internet here sucks too much. *gives up* It's an outdoor shopping mall, really pretty.

I've driven in LA before, it's fine. The roads here are wide enough to compensate for the traffic - unlike New York.
To hire a car for us it's the base amount...doubled. Sigh. But it's something.

We need another tiramisu at La Porchetta. I don't think one is enough... or maybe it is.
But pizza and tiramisu is a must.
Take lots of pics of these places you've mentioned in this post, okay? I need to see where I want to go next time I'm in LA!!
