As soon as Aerith saw the boy, she knew. As soon as she saw that silver hair and those hard green eyes, blazing with pent-up anger, she knew he was Sephiroth’s child. She almost gasped aloud with the realization, thinking she would never see him again, would never have to see the baby he had forced on her again. She couldn’t remember that night very well, only remembered vague, emotional impressions. She remembered being frightened, being held down on the floor, being utterly helpless. She turned away from him, scared of the way seeing Riku’s face seemed to effect her.
As soon as Sephiroth saw the boy, he knew. As soon as he saw that gentle face and those bright green eyes, shining with innocent pride, he knew he was Aerith’s child. He almost groaned aloud with the realization, thinking he would never have think about her again, would never have to confront what was simply his ultimate weakness again. He couldn’t remember that night very well, only remembered vague, alcohol-hazed impressions. He remembered feeling aroused, pushing her to the floor, thinking he was invincible. He turned away from him, scared of the way Riku’s face seemed to effect him.
He was the result of a night that both of them wanted-for different reasons-to forget. Neither of them wanted to see him ever again, wanted to forget that night and all of the meaning it held for them. But after seeing him, they both knew-
