resinsoul Yao box opening
As promised: the box opening of my new Resinsoul Yao that arrived today.
I actually wanted to start with a picture of her posing, but I don't think people would be too happy with a naked doll on their flist. There are more pictures on my flickr and behind the cut is a short review.
I got a nice Resinsoul doll bag with my order. I wasn't expecting that.
I'm going to skip all the other unpacking pictures as those are boring. Let's move on to her head. Her eyes are of different shapes which sort of dissapoints me on one hand and on the other hand I was going to mod her eyes smaller anyway. I also hope that the 14 mm Makoeyes will fit better after the mod. 14 mm eyes are too small right now and 16 mm are too large.
Here's a look at the inside of the head. There are magnets stored in the compartiment in the head cap that keep the horns on the head. They are not really strong magnets as the horns fall off when she wears a wig.
The back of her neck was a pleasant surprise. There are small bumbs of the spine.
Front and back. I ordered her with the smaller bust part, because I was afraid I wouldn't like the shape of the large bust breasts. See company pictures of the original doll [more naked doll].
After seeing the sorry excuse for hands on the 5StarDoll body that I got in a trade, these hands are a lot better than I feared. They are detailed and have fingers instead of tubes.
The free eyes that I got with the doll are of the better type of acrylic eyes. I have no use for them, but they are pretty.
There's a double lock mechanism in the lower leg joint (where the leg bends forward). It works well, I think. The doll is very loosely strung and flops into a pile half the time. I need to restring her befor I can say much about posing.
Her lower parts are very poorly done. Usually I don't spend much attention to how things are sculpted in that region as most companies put a simple line there, but this is not a line. This is a wide gap. õ_O
Who made this and thought this is better than nothing?
The inside of the upper torso. It's a bit hollow, but it's possible to sand the chest flat in case anyone wants a really flat chest.

The MNF corset made by Raouken fits (yay), although I don't have pictures of her wearing it.
The plan is to mod a lot of things about her. Her arms for more posability, her nose and eyes as I want a different look and I'm going to see if I can make the torso joint and the colar bones look nicer. But first restringing, because that way I can see of some other parts need modding too.
I'm pretty impressed by her. The sculpting, although not up to par with some of my other dolls outshines some of the other "cheap Chinese dolls". The resin colour is not marbled. There are sanding scratches all over her body, but unlike the 5Stardoll body it isn't shiny. She's very light, but does not feel freakily plastic as I had feared. I actually like holding her instead of being repulsed (some dolls manage to do that with me).
Her hip sockets may also end up getting modded. This is the part where I think it could have been done better, but I'm not sure if I can fix it easily.
I also got her for less than what she sells for at several EU dealers by ordering her directly at the company. :D
