random thoughts on the redheaded Avox girl
RANDOM THOUGHTS ON WHY THE REDHEADED AVOX GIRL IS GOING TO BE IMPORTANT (AND MAYBE THE MOCKINGJAY?)
Page 237 of HG - "The birds fall silent. Somewhere, a mockingjay gives the warning whistle that precedes the hovercraft. I don't know how it knows. It must hear things that humans can't."
Page 82 of HG - "Suddenly all the birds stopped singing at once. Except one. As if it were giving a warning call. And then we saw her. I'm sure it was the same girl."
So it was a mockingjay that called out before the hovercraft came down to pick up the girl, but it's only implied and not out-right stated.
Page 77 of HG - "...when a girl sets a gorgeous-looking cake on the table and defy lights it. It blazes up and then the flames flicker around the edges awhile until it finally goes out. I have a moment of doubt."
And here we've got this red-headed girl setting the cake on fire.
And then with the whole thing on page 119 - cleaning the blood off of Katniss' hands - first, can we get more red imagery, and second, wow, hello subtlety. Cleaning the blood off her hands at the same point she's all, nah, it's cool that you didn't try to save us. Anywho.

They'd that that Capitol look about them. The boy and the girl.
"Where do you suppose they were going?" he asks.
"I don't know that," I say. District 12 is pretty much the end of the line. Beyond us, there is only wilderness. If you don't count the ruins of District 13 that still smolder from the toxic bombs."
So clearly the girl and the boy are heading to District 13 - from the Capitol. HOW are they involved? (I choose to believe whatever she was caught up in, Cinna was involved in some way, too.)
Red-haired. Flame. Girl on fire. Etc.
Seriously, though, what are the chances that she'd end up as Avox for the 12th District? And that she and Cinna are both from the Capitol, and in their own ways obviously have some connection to the rebellion (her running away, Cinna and the dress). And Cinna chose District 12? There *has* to be some sort of connection here between Cinna, the Avox, District 12, and the rebellion. I'M NOT SURE WHAT. BUT SOMETHING.
Thoughts? Am I just completely crazy and sleep-deprived?
