i'm almost done school now. finishing up my last term and my internships but unlike all the other graduates of 2006 i have yet to find my field of passion - my specialtiy. its really starting to annoy me now. i think i like one thing better then the next and then another thing comes a long ... for the past few months now i've been hopping from one project to the next trying to find my perfect match. its not that i dont particularly like one thing, its that i like them all. jack(ette) of all trades, master of none. i want to master something!
i've managed to narrow it down, i love commercial & hospitality design because i love being able to use my creativity and clubs, hotels, resturants are the perfect out-let for that. the bad side to commercial design is all the legal boundries. code after code after code ... and for most places you're working with a place that already exists. i for one also love the construction/architectural aspect of it and prefer working with the architects from the beginning of the project right till the end. which then leads me into residental home constructions. i love it! absolutely love designing a house, working with it from the ground up. having a say in every aspect of it and adding my final touches to the end result. bad thing, most architects now do not want to take on small residental projects in replacement of multi-million dollar commerical projects. if i could find an architect who loves residental design this is where my heart would lay.
after all this ... i've come to realize i'm a hands on type of girl. i doing site anaylsis, measurements, cadd, construction review, ... i love being the project manager. imagine, graduating from design school and going straight into a project manager's position! LoL all week i've been sending out resumes, going to interviews, preparing my portfolio and designs for review and interview after interview i have a problem with their work habits, their designs, their firm in general...
why am i so damn picky!
beggers can't be choosers - but this begger is.
