They say that bad news always comes in 3's. I seem to be having a string of bad news in the past week and a bit. Shall we count?
#1 --- find out that my daddy has cancer. He got this weird bump removed from his arm. Lab tests come back and confirm it's cancer ---- of the rapid spreading variety. He spends half the day at the hospital getting checked over by three specialists, and is due to go back in about 2 weeks for another biopsy.
#2 --- a close friend/relative of the family dies. She was 64-years old but I've known her since I was old enough to remember people. I have many happy memories of her. It was her cottage I spent so much time at, and she was there for our family during the shittiest time in our lives.
#3 --- Something is just not right. I'm peeing a lot, and it hurts. Bladder keeps acting like there's more pee....but there's none. NONE. I ignore it, thinking it will go away. I spend my first two days at placement in much discomfort until I finally cave. I call my doctor but he's all booked up, and I just can't wait. I call my placement supervisor and tell her I won't be in on Wednesday --- I go sit myself at the walk-in clinic instead. Doctor tells me I have UTI (urinary tract infection). Very nice doctor --- English chap. I get my antibiotics and go on my merry 'ole way.
#4 --- my oldest cat, Pippin, has something wrong with him. He's been vomiting a lot more than usual, and he no longer has a voice. He gags every now and then. I have an appointment to take him to the vet. His throat is infected. He gets a shot of antiobiotics as well as anti-inflammatory pills. Poor guy.
On the positive side, I'm having lots of fun at practicum. I got to read to the Gr.1's and Gr.2's today --- a very lively bunch of kids :) Tomorrow is an in-service day....so no classes, but lots of work to be done.
I just want the weekend to be here already.
give me a break,
death,
practicum,
life,
family
