Overall, the trip was fantastic. We spent most of it on the road, but it was very peaceful & relaxing (except the drive through Chicago on the way back). Speaking of which, here's a picture of a white van that nearly rammed into us on the Interstate. It was just one of a handful of close-calls that we had....and so that time I decided to snap a picture:
Some guy flipped us the bird while driving in Chicago. Personally, I think it was more anti-non-American sentiment that anything else. The guy had ample room to pass us & actually slowed down just to give us the finger. So, my guess is that he just wasn't keen on Canadians (that's if he even knew where Manitoba is....everyone we spoke to had NO CLUE where Manitoba was. They'd never even heard of it). As horrible as it was to drive through downtown Chicago, I must say that Chicago is one beautiful city. It really is. Will I ever drive through it again? Nope! Here's some more shots of Chicago:
And I HAD to see the Chicago Public Library (being a librarian-in-training and all...):
So that was our brief venture in Chicago. More to come, so stay tuned!
