You've got to be kidding me
So the guy who lived in the apartment before me was supposed to shampoo the carpet. I was present when the landlady and him had that conversation. Today, I went down there to sign the lease and get the keys. Turns out that the guy didn't shampoo the carpet --- apparently he wasn't required to do so because of the short amount of time he lived there. Okay, that's fine. So, mum and I set to work and wiped out the cupboards and all that jazz.
Upon arriving back at home, I took off my sandals and noticed my feet were practically black on the bottom. This was from walking barefoot on the carpet in my new apartment. That is how DIRTY the carpet is. Tomorrow as supposed to be the big moving day.....but that is going to be delayed as my number one priority at this point is getting the carpet thoroughly shampooed. And since everything is closed Monday, it will have to wait till Tuesday.
Needless to say, I'm really not happy at the moment. It's obvious this carpet hasn't been shampooed in a very, very long time. It probably wasn't even done when the previous tenant moved in. The question now is whether I should rent one and do it myself, or whether I should just call a professional. And will the agency refund me the cost of getting it done or will they say tough luck but you chose to stick with the old carpet? Well, I guess I'll find out when I call the landlady tomorrow and ask her.
