So, I'm currently ill. This would be why I was neither able to make it to class nor anime club. Buu. Fever of 103 this afternoon, but it went down a bit. Then threw up dinner. Also not able to sub tomorrow, which I feel bad about because many teachers are out sick at Highlands.
Enough whinerism. Last Saturday, Katie and I got a puppy: a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Her obvious name? Ein, which is short for "Eine kleine nachtmusik" (check my spelling on this). As the photo indicates, she is ridiculously cute and fuzzy. She's playing with her rope toy right now (as pictured). We're having house training issues though; she's very reluctant to VOID HER BOWELS outside, leading to inside messes which thankfully clean up easy and haven't stained yet. We take her out often, but she just won't do the dirty doggy deed. Any suggestions?
The new album from The Mars Volta is out, The Bedlam in Goliath. On the first listen-through, I really didn't like it, but it grew on me a lot the second time. As the reviews have stated, it is probably their most aggressive album, which, although it's pretty good, I liked the "soundscape" aspect of their albums that wasn't as overt on this one.
I'm not sure how much I believe the concept behind the album, but it's certainly interesting. I need to listen to it a few more times before I can give it a grade.
In movies, Katie and I saw Idiocracy. Something about the imagery and sets really reminded me of a low-brow version of Brazil. Nevertheless, despite such a depressing premise (idiots have sex more than smart people, causing a "dumbing down" of humanity over time), I actually enjoyed it. It was silly and vulgar, the latter by which I am not usually amused.
I GIVE IT A B+!
I don't feel as bad right now, but we'll see if I stay that way. Ein is sleeping right now; I may take her out in a bit before I go to bed.
Over Christmas I went a picked up a copy of Final Fantasy V Advance; I had forgotten that it was a pretty fun/addictive game (lousy plot, though). Also, the bonus dungeon is INTESNE; I haven't finished it yet (Omega mk. II is ridiculously hard, being able to eject people from battle) because I let my brother, who's never played through it before, borrow it. So, on whim last week, I picked up Final Fantasy VI Advance. The sound quality seems different from the SNES version,*shrug*. I haven't had a lot of time to play it, but I'm still excited about it; Final Fantasy III (US) was probably my favorite game growing up.
Oh hey, I haven't done one of these in a while
