I'm wondering who the one is that got the reprieve as well.
I will agree with R or Hr dying at the end of book 7. They were both told the Prophecy... so that makes Harry, Dumbledore, Ron and Hermione the only ones to have fully heard it. (Trelawney doesn't count since she doesn't remember and Snape only heard part of it.)
It makes sense that knowing exactly what was said will lead one or both of them to be a sacrifice so Harry can defeat Voldie.
"And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives." Direct quote from OotP, American Version pg. 841.
It also leads to the question of what exactly will the final battle be like and where? Will it be held on the grounds of Hogwarts? Godric's Hollow? Or the Riddle House? Will Ginny be there? Will Neville? Will Luna? Or will one of these three die earlier in the book? I'm hoping that Ginny lives of course... and I do have a little bit of a soft spot for Neville, but I can't help but feel one or two or all three may meet their death.
JK said that "2" people she didnt' plan on will die. So part of the trio? Or a Weasley? Who knows. I'm looking forward to finding out, even if it does mean one other of my favorite characters will die.
I think it would be quite poetic to have the final battle be at Godric Hollow or the Riddle House (both being places "where it all began" in Harry's and Tom's stories), but somehow I could also see her adding a little twist and doing it somewhere completely new. I think that she's so epic that she might just add another location...hmm...on second though does she really have time for that??? Let's just hope this last book is longer than OotP!
I think that there will be a "good guy" character death early on in the book or in the middle. At minimum, I think it's safe to say that there will be at least 3 "deaths": mystery person 1, mystery person 2, and Voldy. We know Voldy will likely "be defeated" at the end of the story. And like any good storywriter, JKR will use the at least one other character death to push the story forward and provide motive for the other characters (this usually happens in the beginning or middle of a story). Plus, if you kill all your characters at the same time, it oversaturates the reader and minimizes each individual death. JKR will want to capitalize on her "good guy" deaths and make them extremely meaningful. We don't want to lose Hagrid or Fang (haha!) or Neville (sorry kjpzak!) or Luna in the fray and have Voldy's "defeat" overshadow their sacrifices.
I agree, Molly won't die. Besides being a mother figure to Harry, she's the glue that holds the Weasley's together. JKR wouldn't yank a mother away from so many children.
