Finally have a user icon. I purchased a graphics program a couple weeks ago--Photoshop, rather expensive, but I've been wanting to try it out for a while now--and installed it on my personal computer. It wasn't ferreting out how to use the software that took the longest--it was trying to decide on a picture!
Most of the other professors at least have an obvious option. Potions, potion bottles; herbology, plants; astronomy, stars...and of course the heads of houses can always use their house emblem.
But what picture come to mind with Muggle Studies? Some Muggle thing, obviously, but it was also trying to find something which I liked; automobiles may be a very noticeable part of public life, but I wouldn't really want to have one in my icon.
So I decided on something that's a bit more symbolic of me, personally, rather than professionally. I settled for a close-up from a photo of me in my favourite robes (the ones modelled after an Edwardian-era walking jacket), showing the embroidery on the front. Considering how much I love history and historical clothing, it seemed an apt choice.
Next project: a new background for my computer. I know I can download them, but where's the fun in that? :-)
