So far this week has been quite exhausting. I cannot wait for the weekend, when I can get some sleep. Not that I haven't been sleeping quite a bit--it just seems I can never get enough.
My sinuses seem to be the biggest problem--they've been getting quite stuffy and sore this last little while (not allergies though--I've been tested), and they've meant that my sleep is rather unsettled. Thatand teaching, making up lesson plans, marking all the essays which are starting to come in, running errands... I've just been feeling rather run-down. It's a good thing I teach an elective class, if it was mandatory I likely would have dropped dead by now. I had better not be coming down with something.
Pippin is adorable, even if she seems to have a knack for getting out of my quarters. She simply will not be cooped up. I'm hoping that letting her in and out at night via a charmed cat-flap in my door (invisible and impenetrable, except to her) will help, as prior to its installation she found her way into the Muggle Studies classroom twice. Both times during lessons.
The first time she became stuck in one of the cupboards and whined loudly until I let her out. The next, she ended up knocking a whole row of books off a lower shelf, nearly on top of her. Don't ask me how she did it; I was standing at the front of the class, lecturing, when all of a sudden there was a loud crashing noise at the back of the room, one which nearly made me jump out of my skin, I was so startled. Dead silence for a moment, then a tiny, muffled "Mrowr?" It sounded like the feline equivalent of "...Oops?"
But then in the evenings, she'll be as subdued as you please, sitting on my shoulder for an hour at a time, curling up on my lap or next to me in bed, purring contentedly. Speaking of which, she's curled up on my lap at the moment, dreaming of something or other; her paws twitch occasionally, as though she's swatting at something.
It's about time I followed her lead, actually, and head off into dreamland myself--if I can, tonight.
