The Headmaster has asked that we all begin keeping these online journals, for some reason or other. Probably to blow off steam, so that there will no longer be a need to repairs to the decor of the staffroom.
For my part, I'm not sure how well this will turn out. I've always been crap at keeping a journal. I can just never keep it going, or write regularly, but as Dumbledore has asked, I suppose I'll give it a try once again. Besides, the learning curve on this sort of thing is at least much easier for me. I at least know how to use computers, unlike some fellow teachers who tried prodding the one in the staffroom with their wand to turn it on, no names mentioned (*cough*McGonagall*cough*). Though I will have to explore this program more thoroughly some other time. My current title, colour scheme, etc. is rather boring, I know. I must remember to change it later when I'm in a more creative frame of mind.
Classes have been back in session about a month and things are going well thus far. I think I'm making some progress with my Third-years. It's a difficult business trying to scrub out the ingrained prejudices many wizards hold toward muggles, but I think it's working for some. I'm torn between persisting in my efforts or giving up on a couple of the students though--it's abundantly clear that they will not accept anything other than their (frankly) racist attitudes, and that they are only taking the course as it was supposed to be a soft option. I've already disillusioned them to that, however.
I suppose it's just that it's been a long day. I couldn't sleep last night (intermittent sinus headache, doubtless due to the inclement weather), and then some of the teachers have been in a very bad mood of late (Snape and Hooch, to name names--though Snape hasn't surfaced all day. Hrm.) and it tends to rub off on the rest of us.
Will have one of the House-Elves bring me a cup of tea and will take a nice long, hot bath before bed. That should improve things.
