Post Thailand trip update

So now I've been back home for a week. I know that my cats have been missing me because there was a dead bird in my room when I got back. And another one yesterday. Don't you love 'welcome home' type presents?

My time in Thailand was really awesome. So good to catch up with Bro. His girlfriends place was really nice, and it's part of this gated complex that has a flash pool, kinda like a 5 star hotel pool. It was really good during that hot weather. Got to see her cousin's cute little baby daughter to.

Time up north with the family was really good. This trip has been easier than the last one, mostly because there hasn't been a 13 year gap, so I actually remember everyone this time. Also my aunt and uncle remembered my love of drinking young coconuts so I continued my trend of having a coconut a day! I also got to eat all the fresh tropical fruit I could dream of. My family really looked after me.

When I got back to Bangkok I went crazy with the shopping. I bought so much stuff. But it was mostly small things because I had to fit it all back into my luggage. So I have 4 new dresses and jewellery and presents and things.

Then one of my workmates and her boyfriend came through Bangkok, it was their first stop on a tour to europe then New York. We did some cool touristy stuff. But I find I really dislike being seen as a tourist in Thailand. It's just really annoying to get stopped all the time.

We did more shopping. I took them to MBK, Chatachuk Market, Siam Paragon, Central World. We also saw the reclining buddha and the emerald buddha. We went on a day trip to the floating markets, visting a cobra show (kinda depressing as there was a huge croc in a tiny cage), the Tiger temple (where I got to pat tigers big and small eeeeeeeeeEEEEE!) and the bridge over the river kwai where we went for a quick long boat ride and I got to cuddle a baby leopard. SO CUTES! It made me miss Maya and Toto a bit.

It felt good to be able to show them around. Sometimes it's nice to be an ambassador.

After all the travelling, and lots and lots of shopping it was good to be home. And I needed the relaxing time. Tonight is my first night of nothing since I got back. It was nice to do my laundry and bake pies for dinner.

So I get back on Friday and visit Giffle that night. Sat I spent the day helping to organise my friends wedding. It was so cool though, we did all the bouquets and I met her family visiting from Japan. Check out the pics if you see me on facebook. I was worried about the dress I was going to wear because it felt short (the lining was really short) and very bright.. and there are these roses around the neckline... But I think it worked out. My friend reassured me that as long as I wasn't wearing a white dress it would be fine. lol.

Sunday the wedding was beautiful, and her dad was crying during his speech and that almost made me cry. It was so sweet. Her family was so nice, and it was great because I hadn't seen them since high school graduation. I was very tired after, as I had woken up early to set up, and make sure everything was beautiful. And I think it was :) Didn't really matter, cos nothing looks more beautiful than the bride on the day anyway.

Monday - roleplaying. My first eva D&D game. It was interesting.. although I was pretty tired. Good to see the guys again.

Tuesday - took Mentee and mentee's little bro to Kiwi Pro Wrestling screening of Off the Ropes. They had a great time, although Mentee was a bit quiet and shy during the matches. I hope she wasn't to shocked by my screams of "YOU SUCK!" at the baddies.

Mentee's little brother was very involved. He went down the front to boo or get high fives. When Inferno (bad guy) showed up, he took the 'Inferno Sucks' sign down with him, and it got ripped in half by Inferno. After the screening Mentee's little bro told me "I thought that those guys were fake mean, but that guy was really mean! He ripped my sign in half!!" I wasn't sure if I should go with it, or explain that it was part of the act.

Wednesday - Mentors meeting. We keep catching up once a month. It's pretty awesome because all the mentors are very cool people. Really good that we still get that support. But mostly I like to see everyone again and hearing how the kids are doing.
