Without You All the Blessing Weep Story MasterpostThank you to
abeautifullie3 for her patience with my poking and muttering during the creation of this art. I hope I did her story the justice it deserves. Notes and art contain spoilers.
When I was asked to pinch hit for the art for
abeautifullie3 I scrapped I think four or five pieces before I finally found my sense of the story. There was a theme that held this story together, and it needed to be there, clear and present in each piece. Once I realized that in a huge "oh duh" moment, the art just started flowing. I wrestled once or twice with themes, but they all fell together in the end
This is a gentle story, and finding a balance for the art was my challenge. I hope it work. I am glad she trusted me with her art, it was a joy working with her and producing this art!.
Part One focuses mostly on Sam and Dean, on the hunt that leads up to the injury, and the early part of their life as they strive to be normal. I wanted to have little snapshots of their life.
Part Two, as they settle into their new lives was a little harder, it was extremely emotional, and trying to capture that in art was difficult. Beth is a pivotal character and I wanted her to have a place.
abeautifullie3 provided a lovely manip I wanted to make sure she was there.
Part Three I debated a long time. I tried several times with different ideas and decided when all was said and done that I wanted just Sam and Dean. In fact after about five tries at this piece, Dean gave me one of THOSE looks and said, "Okay, now will you listen?" So, fine Dean. You were right.
I had planned for three dividers, one for each character and then once for them together. A cane for Dean, a gun for Sam (since he continued to hunt) and lilacs for Beth (Dean said she smelled liked lilacs and vanilla). I also made this one to show all three characters, and both of us ended up liking it the best.
Icons--one of the shadow and one for the three of them.
