Chocolate covered sales calls

Hooray for Easter! Our office is really good about recognizing Good Friday and taking off for it, which I'm thankful for. Scott's still working tomorrow, but I'll jus enjoy a day off to weed the flowerbeds and plant some annuals, and get some other house cleaning done. That's pretty relaxing to me.

So our event is still on, as of this morning. There was talk of canceling it, which would have been awful, but we're still on track. And Buddy called me today to ask what I thought of a Japanese public television crew coming in to film our conservative lunch and watch 'those opposed to Obama's health care plan' to get footage for their program. Hahaha... so funny! Tom and I both thought it would be fine, but still kind of... weird, so it's on, apparently. Dick will actually be there at the lunch Monday, so it's a good opportunity for them to listen to a person who'd been on the vanguard of the fight on HillaryCare. Mark will be there, as well, and will be talking about the tea parties. I haven't seen him in person since July, so it will be a good lunch.

When a PR professional sends out a press release, they often use a newswire they subscribe to. I do indeed use the same wire services Sonia used when she was in my position, and the main competitor to this wire has been pursuing me to introduce themselves and their services. They brought in a public policy-specialized wire guy from DC and emailed me to set up a meeting to discuss his expertise and what they can do for a policy group, but I just kinda... ignored them? I just had little interest in learning a new product, especially with my priorities in promoting World IP Day lately and since our contract with the current newswire goes til September.

Well, the sales girl, Sarah, actually dropped by our offices with this guy John on his way to the airport to fly back to DC today. Betty came and got me in my office, saying, "Erin, there are people here to see you and give you cookies." "What? People here for me?"

I go out there and see them, and I felt so guilty because I had ignored their requsts for an appointment. They showed up with cookies and chocolate from Central Market, so we had a meeting in the conference room. I really liked them, too... maybe I will switch, haha. The chocolate they brought in was actually just like the 'pave' chocolate Tom introduced me to in Geneva, which was 18 Swiss francs for a small box, so I've got to find this stuff here if its cheaper-- it tastes exactly like the Swiss pave. But yeah... I like it when people bring me chocolate! :-)
