Memes and pole dancing

Jul 03, 2008 23:01

I have a couple of memes that I'm behind on. The first is from pennilesspoet17. She listed me 7 things from my list of interests that I have to talk about. If you want to do it, leave me a note and I'll list 7 things from your interests list and ask you to talk about it.

1)Coronation Street. For those of you who don't know, this is a British soap opera based in a mythical suburb of Manchester called Weatherfield. You can watch it online! here :-D Normally I hate soaps but my Mam used to watch Corrie when I lived at home and I somehow got into it as well and now I'm hooked! I don't know why it's any different from Emmerdale or Eastenders but I will always watch Corrie and even plan my dinner so it's ready just in time to settle down and watch it and even sometimes plan my social life around it...

2) Roman Dirge. I don't read comics, I never have. Until I went to university and my friends introduced me to Jhonen Vasquez and Roman Dirge, (taxidermied) who both publish on the Slave Labor label. I don't know why I like them, they're a little bit strange, a little bit funny and a little bit disturbing. I guess it's just my goth side coming through. I even have a Lenore dolly!

3) Fluffy. What can I say about fluffy? I've just always liked fluffy things! It feels good, it looks good, I even have a fluffy clock! I would have a big fluffy house if I could! I'm just a girl at heart I reckon.

4) Long Way Round. Well, DUR! It's Ewan McGregor isn't it :op But not only this, Long Way Round inspired me to do my motorbike training, pass my test and buy a motorbike! So although I can't drive, I now have a shiny sexy motorbike to take me everywhere :o) I loved Long Way Round, how they got past problems, the amazing people they met, the things they saw, how different the world can be but, ultimately, people are the same and want the same things wherever you go.

5)Picnics. Obviously I only like picnics in the Summer, so I guess the reason I love picnics is because I love the Summer! I don't understand people who like the Winter, they're just weird, give me sunshine any day, it's just lovely to sit out in the park in the sun and fresh air, enjoying a nice meal and then perhaps a an ice cream.

6)PURPLE!. In case you hadn't noticed, purple is my favourite colour and has been for as long as I can remember. I don't know what it is about it, it just seems so much nicer than all the other colours. If I could, my whole house would be purple, but I'm not allowed, and that would actually be quite ridiculous. Whenever there's a choice of colours for anything, I always go with purple. Sometimes I think about going for a different colour just for some variety, but I can't actually bring myself to do it if there's a purple one available, I feel like a traitor! That fluffy clock I mentioned earlier? It's purple...

7)Muse. Oh my god I love Muse! I was lucky enough to take photos of them a couple of years ago and their live act is absolutely amazing. Their songs are just completely epic, they're so talented and Matt Bellamy has an amazingly strong and emotional voice, fantastic.

And one from splix. The first 5 people who leave me a note and ask, I will ask you 5 random questions which you must answer in your next entry. splix asked me the following.

1. If you could model yourself after one person, who would it be and why?
Well recently I've been talking to, work shadowing and reading the books of Alex Bailey, super successful film set photographer. He is doing exactly what I want to do with life. Amazing photographer but not only that, he doesn't take any shit from anyone, he knows what he wants and he goes and gets it. He's really good at selling himself and making sure everyone knows how amazing he is. I want to be like that, but I'm just too shy! Need to work on that....

2. How did you come to Ewan fandom? Moulin Rouge! My boyfriend at the time said we were going to the cinema to see a film that he thought I would love. I had never heard of it before but he was right, I fell in love twice over that night. Once with the film and once with the Penniless Writer, Christian. A couple of days later I was in a book shop and found a hardback biography of Ewan for £3. I thought, I've seen a few of his films, he was quite gorgeous in Moulin Rouge!, I'm going to buy this and see what he's all about. The rest is history, it just kind of spiralled out of control after that!

3. You have been given two million pounds, tax and obligation free. What will you do with it? Hmmmm....*thinks* £2m. Not enough to buy a house in St. John's Wood where I might have a very sexy neighbour, shame. First I'd pay off my student loan. Then I'd buy a house outright, no mortgage to worry about. Pass my driving test and buy a car. Buy a Honda Fireblade and try not to kill myself on it. Inveeeest! (Harold Sidler stylee). I'll put some into a savings account and earn some lovely interest. I might try and start my own business, doing I don't know what but it would be fun trying!

4. What is your fondest childhood memory? I have lots, I can only choose one? It might be my entire holiday in South Africa in 1989 when I was 8. I had a fantastic time, camping on the beach on Christmas Day, playing in the pool with my cousins, seeing wild giraffes and lions, visiting a diamond mine and a gold mine, seeing the house we lived in when I first born and the hospital I was born in, that was such a good holiday, I definitely want to go back again one day.

5. What do you wear when you want to feel sharp-dressed and confident? I reckon it would be the outfit I wore at Simon and Bee's wedding. I bought my first little black dress from Debenhams with a wide belt and dressed it with my sexy heeled brogues. Hmmm, I don't really have a very good picture, I'll try and find one...lol this is the only picture I can find of me wearing the dress, you can just about see my belt. Here's proof that I was actually taking the photos at the wedding! Obviously I didn't take this one, this is Pete's. Yeah, I'm all out of focus.

Oh here we go, I've just found another, you can sort of see my shoes on this one. Anyway, I love this outfit!

So there you go, now leave me a note and I'll ask you 5 questions, if you so wish!

I've just come back from my first pole dancing lesson! OH my god it's painful! We had a lesson for Bee's Hen Party which is what made us want to give it a go, but we didn't do anywhere near as much stuff as we do in a proper lesson. I had loads of time on the pole as it was only shared between 2 of us and I picked up loads of amazing moves which I never thought I'd be doing on my first lesson. I Was sure I was doing it wrong because firstly I Was way behind everyone else and also, every time I did a move, the instructor was saying "Next time you do it, try doing this." but Bee and Jess were really impressed. They said I was doing stuff that they only started doing in their 4th lesson! I now realise that I was doing it right and my instructor was only telling me to do it differently because I'd managed the basic move and she was helping me on the next step to make it a little bit better. I'm well impressed with myself, even if I do say so myself! Yaaaay I've found something I'm good at, I'm definitely going to go again. That is if I can walk, I can feel it already. I have a massive bruise on the top of my right foot as that's where you hold onto the pole, my stomach muscles are aching as you use them to hold yourself up off the ground and also my biceps and thighs. Why aren't pole dancers covered in bruises? LoL :o) I can also climb the pole right to the top which I never thought I'd be able to do. Can't wait until next week, see what they get my doing; I almost went upside down tonight as well, on my first lesson! I couldn't quite manage it, though, but the instructor said "That's ok, we don't normally do that in the beginner class anyway." Blimey, she had me trying things that beginners shouldn't be trying...! *grin*

I did 8 of the moves this lady does in the video below. Don't worry, it's safe for work, she's wearing clothes and just doing it in her garage! Obviously I didn't do any of the fancy upside down stuff, but I did most of the rest of it :o) Excuse the music, definitely not what I would choose...
