my job is like slave labor

everyone told me that architects work long hours and get paid little, but this is ridiculous

okay, so i make one penny more per hour at my architecture job (which i need a 4 year, $100K degree to have) than i do at the hospital (which i need not even know how to read), minus shift differential for working afternoons (which i prefer anyways) and weekends.

but my new job isnt hourly, its salary, but when you break it down into 40 hour work weeks, thats how it breaks down

but actually i take that back, it is hourly if you work less than 40 hours, salary if you work more than (which make no sense, and defeats the whole purpose of having salary.

but it only comes out to one penny more per hour if i only work 40 hours a week, which has never been the case. at a minimum i work 45 mins late everyday, however, 4 days this last week i was there until at least 7, the other till 6, once till 7:45, without taking my unpaid hour lunch.

and this would be fine if i was making more money. even if i was making over $30K i would be fine with it, i could afford to quit the hospital and i would have a bunch more time on my hands, but thats not the case, not at all.

but this is what really pissed me off.

so i started a new roofing project. it is me, another kid, and then our project manager working on it. i had another project going until friday morning, but on tuesday i went out with the other kid and field verified current conditions. i did some of the drawing of the original base plan, but since i had this other project going until friday morning, i havent had any time to devote to this. but friday, all day i was waiting to meet with our PM to discuss what needs to be done by when, etc. he wasnt available all day, and i had two meetings to go to as well, so we finally met up at 4:30... half hour before i am supposed to go home. he starts rattling off a huge list of things to do, then says "this is due tuesday".. so im like, okay, that will be a lot of work but doable. then he says, but mike (the owner) is coming in on sunday to review the set, which will be our last red line before submittal (which basically means the set has to be 85-90% complete by sunday for him to review it). by this time it is around 5:30, and he stands up and says "i gotta get outta here, i got stuff to do tonight. have this stuff done by sunday, see ya monday" and walks out.

what the fuck?!?!?!?

so i had to sit at work and finish this stupid fucking project while he just leaves. fuck him. fuck this job. and fuck this little pay.

and i had to do two roofs, the other kid just one. but my two are simple, his is difficult. so i finished my in a few hours. i left before him, and she said he would be back on saturday and sunday working on it...

fuck that
