OK, so I could recall Paris, but unfortunetly i don't want to in detail half because of laziness, but moreso because my Paris experience wasn't as pleasant as, um, apparently everyone else's. Maybe it's cuz it's DEF a city built for lovers, and um, mine is across the ocean so I guess it may have made me a little bitter. I mean, it wasnt exactly AWFUL either. I had to fly there, i dont like flying much anymore. Um i encountered some douchebags on my way in too (thought, contrary to what i've heard, most of the french people were actually very nice to me, especially when I at least GREETED them in french). Everything was really expensive too, which i wasnt too fond of (partly because of the rugby world cup being there and all), and it was a lot dirtier of a place than i expected. even the airport kinda sucks, i went there early on sunday cuz i was tired of spending money, but its not like cool American airports where there's stuff to do and basically a mall inside. it has a couple shops but not enough to sustain. very lame. very. okay, so the good things about it tho:
-Eiffel Tower= beautiful, especially at night when it lights up, but also climbing it was really cool
-Pretty carnivally colors and that type writing everywhere. I felt like I was in Amelie at parts of my weekend.
-Stylish ppl. It was like a street fashion show walking around.
-best cheap meal--croissants and cafe au lait. buy a bagguette for the day too and you can afford to go out to dinner. bread and cheese and wine there are very good too, and the cheapest to get.
-clubs=amazing. WICKED expensive tho. we went to Buddha bar which made me feel younger, less successful, and poorer than everyone, but once i bought a 23 dollar drink i fit right in. ugh awful then we went to this club called "QUEEN" which had a good mix of gay/straight ppl so we were all happy and the 20 euro HUGE ass cover included drinks, and it actually wound up almost being worth it since it was a sweet place and there were confetti cannons set off eventually and stuff. so w/e i had my one genuinely chic club experience.
-apparently im really attractive in france. it mighta been the blond-ness, but i got a lot of "oo la la's"...they actually say "oo la la" too. lol.
-taking naps in front of the luvoure (cept for this guy who was hanging around who i totally thought was terrorist, but wound up just being some guy that sells water)
-Concorde, cool during the day AND night
-Champs de Lysse is cool, but pricy, and i dont get the point of the Arch de Triomph
-Musee de Orsay (something like that)- cool modern art, but they should be more clear about closing hours.
So was going to Paris before my eurrail was activated (and dropping about 700 dollars) worth it...prolly not, but atleast the weather was nice.
