Do not read the following if you don't want to get freaked out by rumors that may be entirely untrue.
If my Japanese is right, according to
zuka_jinjibu, there are rumors (and the key word here is rumor) that Kiriyan's name appeared on some sort of promotional material for the upcoming hoshigumi show "Aka to Kuro." I think people are now going back and forth on whether or not those materials are genuine or if some kind of mistake was made.
...If this is true, this probably means a transfer.
I'm in so much shock right now I really don't know what to think. After Kiriyan was not made the top of hana, I figured that the only top star spot that would be opening up in the next few years would be tsuki. Kiriyan would either make top star of tsuki or she would retire before that. Preferably the former, of course. If they're moving her, it probably means that they're putting her in waiting for a top star position. If she was going to retire without becoming top star, then there would be no point to moving her outside of tsukigumi.
How does this effect Chie? What does this say about the possibility of either Touko or Asako retiring? If Touko were to retire (and believe me, I don't want this to happen), I guess that Chie is still rather young at this point to be top star. And if Kiriyan wasn't in the picture, who's lined up to be the next top star of tsukigumi after Asako? Yuuhi? I love Yuuhi, but it's debatable whether or not she has the right charisma to be top star.
Personally I feel like Hankyu needs to cool it with the top star retirements for a while. For one thing, they're starting to run out of people to promote. At the moment it's really just Kiriyan, Yuuhi, and Yumiko. The company needs a few more years for people like Tomu to come into their full maturity. Also, I think having Kashige in for one show and then retiring her didn't do much for sora's ticket sales by the time Tani eventually came in. Unless Touko is very seriously having vocal problems (and I definitely hope she's not), it would probably be better to keep her around for a while longer and build up her popularity. Besides, El Halcon is selling really well. A lot of tickets for the Grand Theater run are already gone, meaning that tickets will probably sell out instantaneously in Tokyo.
Retirements of other people aside, I'll admit that I like Kiriyan in my favorite troupe. Would she feel comfortable moving troupes after having been in tsuki for ten years? I suppose my one consolation would be that if hoshi is getting Elisabeth next (maybe) and Kiriyan was top star...oh, I shiver at the thought. And I have always wanted to see her become top star. But...I want it to be of tsuki, darnit. Hoshi seems like a perfectly nice troupe, but...
I'll probably be doing iri/de sometime this weekend. I'll try to inquire about if anything knows anything, but I'm only a mere club member, and a new one at that. They're probably not going to give me any top secret information, but the fellow Kiriyan cultists will probably at least know what's going on with the rumor mill. I hope.
(VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Keep in mind that Kiriyan has already been announced to be going on the Me and My Girl promotional tour in London, which is why I'm still skeptical of this). This may be either a printing mistake or someone just spreading rumors.
Could someone with better Japanese skills please help me out here???
