You probably aren't interested, but I changed my LJ layout... the other one didn't look good with my new mega monitor (it was stretched funny) so I chose a freebie one with chickens on. I've also cleaned out all my tags. Looking good!!!
Dad phoned earlier in a rage... he'd called my mobile and I didn't answer! Well I'm sorry, but I'm not surgically attached to my phone, and its very rare I have it near me in the house (except at night when its on the bedside, so I can use it as an alarm). I'm sat less than a metre away from my house phone, and we've had the same house phone number for over 2 years... its not really an excuse is it? Turns out he was in B & Q looking at wood (I say wood, I mean melamine) for my new shelves. We were going to get the beech effect, but it only comes in 2m lengths, not 2.4m like the white does. Plus its more expensive, and did I mind? So yeah, he was raging since I didn't answer my phone and now he has to go again tomorrow. Oh and when I checked my phone I only had one missed call. He tried really hard to contact me didn't he? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Just because my brother signed for a house this week... thats the thrid grumpy conversation I've had with my parents this week and none of it is my fault. Dad wants me to give my cream leather armchair to SmallBoy for his new house. It won't fit in our living room, so I gave it back to Mum and Dad (to store, not to keep). They bought it as a Christmas present for me when I was living in Manchester in a student hovel. It wasn't really part of my masterplan for it to live in a house with three smelly boys (including my brother... not a boy noted for taking great care of things). We're not in a rush to move out of here (current housing market being what it is) but one day we will... and maybe I want my chair back? Maybe I want to sell it and use the money to buy new furniture? I suggested that I sell it to SmallBoy for a very reasonable price (like £50...) and Dad was appalled I had even suggested it, since SmallBoy is spending all his savings on moving out.
And then Dad really made me cross, by suggesting that Richard was making and I had made a big mistake, by moving out, because when he moved out he moved into a house he had bought with my Mum (his then wife) and put down a 60% deposit. He said would take us at least 20-30 years to be in the position that my SuperDuperDad was in... Well good for him! Life just isn't like that anymore. With current prices around here for a three bedroom semi we're looking at about 70k for a 60% deposit... thats 3 1/2 years gross salary for me. How can I save that money, when I have to run a car and buy food (even more so that TheBoy is not working)?
So yeah... I'm really looking forward to a day spent baking Chocolate Cherry Pavolva and Family Tea for 15 at Mum's on Sunday!
