None of my geek friends, or I had ever played D&D before. I don't know how we truly called ourselves geeks not having done so. We sough to remedy that a couple weeks ago and have been playing once a week since. I thought it would be "too much" geek, but it turns out to be a lot of fun. Ben is the DM. He's totally nerding it up. He spent a bajillion dollars are Michaels for DM supplies :)

Yeah, when I was a kid my Mom wouldn't let me play D&D because she thought it was a bad influence. I thought she was being completely unreasonable. But then, we start playing with this basic set, and two weeks later I've bought the books and a DM screen, and I'm standing in Michaels with an armful of craft supplies, surrounded by middle aged women, and it was like "Oh God, Mom was right, what have I become?!"

Nothing too fancy. Bought a poster frame to tear out the plexiglass sheet to use as a dry erase surface over maps, and a paper punch meant for scrapbooking to punch out little printable monster tokens I found online.
