I'm still reflective... still not liking all that much I'm reflecting upon. Heh.
I think I saw 5 movies in the theater... and went to about that many concerts. So I left my house at least 10 times aside from going to work. :) I spent a lot of time playing GTA: Vice City, which is easily in my Top 10 video games ever (even though I wouldn't let my kids play it). I read a handful of books, including The Talisman, which I just finished and understand why one of my LJ friends thinks of it as "her child." I didn't watch much television aside from the occassional cartoon, local sporting events, and Seinfeld/Simpsons re-runs. I went to a wedding, which may have been the highlight of my year... even more than the Patriots winning the Superbowl. I spent a lot of money on toys (Star Wars, Simpsons, Muppets, LOTR, and Sportspicks mostly), and on movies that I haven't watched. Yet. I met Annie, who means as much to me as anyone I've ever met on here and who I hope to "meet" in 2003. Alas, the predominent thing in my life in 2002 was, in fact, Livejournal. And though I don't update half as much as most of y'all, I've got a little notepad here on my desk for future entries. I write roughdrafts for mostly everything I post. And I always wonder who, if anyone, will comment on what I write. Good grief.
Aside from my mom, I hugged one person in 2002. A "real life" person. And it was awkward, sadly.
I saw 2 of my LJ friends fall in love for the first time, which is quite nice. And even though both are lots younger and it makes me wonder just what the devil is wrong with me that I haven't found it yet, I'm happy for y'all.
I talked to 3 of my LJ friends on the phone. And despite all 3 being pleasant conversations, I will always be afraid of the telephone. That sudden ringing... My voice... The pacing back and forth... Blecch...
I hung out with 4 of you. Incidentally, we all watched movies. I was ok, right? Right? Will you write me recommendations if I need one?
I received letters or cards by hand or by mail from 5 of ya. Thank you a million.
I think 6 of you would miss me if I ran away to a desert island with no internet service provider.
And I've chatted online with an astonishing 18 of you. 9 semi-regularly.
We'll see what 2003 brings. Some of us are becoming old pals. Some of us are becoming new pals. (And I have to be careful about liking at least one of you too much.) Two of my newest LJ friends are very, very likable (and both have traveling companionship potential), so I must be careful not to scare you away. With any luck, there will be more movies, another concert or two, a game of simpsons uno, and at least one art gallery. Perhaps some cowtipping if the mood strikes us.
I like all of you. And even though some of you got more (or less) than you bargained for when you put me on your friends' list, and even if I can't exactly 'help,' remember that I'm always willing to listen. And for those of you within a thousand miles, even though sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get me to do anything, I'll do my best to make myself available if you ever need to see a friendly face.
"Traveling" really ought to have two "L's." As it is, it looks like it's a species from Middle Earth.
