a passion of the moment

...and this moment has been going on for over 10 years so far!

I love, love, love my chorus.  Ten years ago, I found a hundred sisters.  The Aurora community is even larger than that; women who sang with us many years ago are still part of our "village," so now I have closer to 300 sisters.  And all without that nasty "she's sitting on my side!" bit.  Well, maybe a little.  :)  And the Aurora community also includes many devoted fans.  When I speak to someone who's just heard us for the first time, I usually get comments like "I had no idea it would be this fantastic!" and "I left feeling so moved, so hopeful, so empowered!"  We really are Powerful Women Singing Peace.  Aurora is my activism, my therapy, and one of my spiritual communities.

Aurora Chorus presents two uplifting performances per season. The December concert is filled with vibrant, nontraditional holiday music about our relationship to the turning seasons of the Earth. The spring concert celebrates women and honors life and humanity in all its diversity.

Our next concert, Song for a Winter's Night, is on the Solstice, Dec 21, with shows at 4 pm and 7 pm.  We'll be singing in 6 different languages, presenting an eclectic musical mix of Eastern European, gospel, "classical," contemporary choral, and popular song.

Song for a Winter's Night will be an evening of music that evokes the many colors and reflections that one might experience on an evening in late December: thoughts on wind, rain and snow - on celebrations, joys and responsibilities - on peace, both personal and global - and on love. Tickets available online through Box Office Tickets, by phone at 503-205-0715, or from the Hollywood Theatre Box Office at 4122 NE Sandy Boulevard: $18 advance | $22 at door.

music, aurora
