Making History

May 02, 2012 20:38

Holy shit you guys! I'm going to partake in the makings of something epic, something to be remembered for years to come! I have just registered in the Cosgame 2012 Melbourne attempt at a world record. The challenge? Only the largest gathering of video game cosplayers! HELLS YEAH!

For those that live in Melbourne and are free this Saturday, register here! The rules are outlined on the site. It also coincides with Free Comic Book Day. Win all round! Matthew and I will be cosplaying Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, naturally ;)

Also, I'm totally bummed because The Tea Party are touring (er the band, not the political party) and the only seats left are shitty and tix are $85. So alas, I'm not going to forgo spending my precious money for shitty seats in a packed venue where we won't be able to see them. Why the hell they've decided to have them play at The Palais is beyond me. Seated concert wth? BUT, the Hilltop Hoods are playing at Festy Hall (Festival Hall) and tix are only $55 or so.

In other news, my muse has still abandoned me. Fic is not forthcoming and I've now missed the deadline for my own bloody challenge. Not happy. I started but it's stalling and I don't really have a clear idea of where it's headed so I've given it up for the mo. I think I've been doing too much science writing and it' vanquished my creativity :( Pray my muse rejoins me! Maybe by submerging myself into fandom will help stir it.

OH! Did I post about The Avengers yet? I don't even remember D: I won't spoil anything because I know it's not been released in the US yet (which is totally strange), but OMFG IT IS BRILLIANT! We saw it opening night and we got a promo cup each (of course I got a Cap America one and Matt an Iron Man one). I have a photo here somewhere of me kissing Cap's poster too ^^ Anyway, Joss Whedon does not disappoint and he knows how to do things evenly and well paced and still maintain light humour throughout. I'm seeing it again tomorrow night with my old work friends - and I rarely see films more than once. LOVES IT. Seriously, see it. And omg Loki and that grin a;lskdgkjdfng;

lmao yeah, I'm a dag.

Oh yeah! We also saw Jay and Silent Bob Get Old last week. Hilarious. Wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it was still pretty damn awesome. Sell out show and it was PACKED. It was also pretty damn funny to see so many people I knew there. I saw a girl I used to go to highschool with, though we sort of glanced at each other and then ignored each other. I saw someone I used to work with and then through the power of facebook managed to get them to find me in the throng. Well, it wasn't hard, they weren't seated far. I also saw another couple of people I knew from when I went to Deakin, a lifetime ago. AND one of my students was there. It was like almost my entire life all converged into one place ^^

music, avengers, fic, that grin, guinness world record, cosplay, loki, captain america
