1974 - Link Wray

[review]
"Link is a quiet man to meet - easy and courteous. His music, though, betrays that deep inside he gets very very mean very often. He has been around, been lauded, then mourned. He has been a success, then screwed. He made a comeback, and must now be a happy man - for he has yet again made a Rock and Roll record. Not many people do that anymore - even the WHO are suffering from maturity. I wrote some liner notes for Link's comeback album in 1970, but they arrived too late for inclusion - they say liner notes are on the way back - so we'll try again. This album contains one certified rock classic - Link's infamous "Rumble." I remember being made very uneasy the first time I heard it, and yet excited by the savage guitar sound." - Pete Townshend, 20th March 1974. >>
