The Weekend

Had a very involved weekend full of fun and friends come back for the summer.
Friday was quite good, Went out for sushi with a good friend of mine. Ate quite a bit, could have had more but stopped myself, after was Invited to a friends house for an impromptu house party, hung out, listened to music, ate pie...yes pie.

Saturday I went yet again to the beach with a couple carloads of people. Crowded on a friends private beach (it sounds swank but the beach is about 2 x 3 meters in size) and soaked up the sun, a bit windy but it is Saskatchewan. Then set out and got some Fish and Chips from Butlers, hung out on a grassy hill and watched the gaggles of teenagers strut by and wondered what goes on in the teenage head these days; I imagine hip hop and worry about their baggy shorts eventually falling down.

Me acting cool...not a good actor

This is a better portrail of me

Me and my beautiful friend

After that we ended up at a friends apartment and watched a movie, La Vie En Rose, very good, I would recommend it.
Sunday it was back to the beach, to my uncles cabin at Lumsden Beach to pick Saskatoon Berries. Got a good amount, some of the bushes were not fully ripe yet so I need to go back probably next weekend to get the unripe ones.

Saskatoons on the bush

While driving we stopped at a canola field and took some pictures.

The day was perfect for berry picking. Sunny and warm but not unbearably hot which is what we've had for awhile now. We got two buckets full and called it quits.
Got the berries home and prepared them to be eaten, soaking them in salt water to get rid of the bugs and then going through them all by hand and picking out the bad ones. After that rinsing the salt off of them and refrigerating them.

Soaking in the sink

After that I went to a few friends house for supper and Settlers of Catan. I brought some of the fresh berries over for dessert, god they were good. Saskatoons are by far my favourite fruit. Ate them with a bit of cream and sugar...perfect.
After that, off to trivia at the local Irish pub where I met up with two very good friends I haven't seen since they left for Spain a year ago. Had much to talk about considering the last time they saw me I was still in the closet. We tied for third last place...whoo hoo.
After that, off to the Plains for Karaoke. had fun, I never sing infront of others but watched others get up there and act like asses.

Tomorrow I'm off to another friends to alter some shirts and possibly learn how to embroider, I'm excited.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
