So, what’s done is done.
These past few weeks have really helped me learn about my life and life
in general. Not to mention a better outlook on people and an awareness
of the shit that’s really happening around us in an even more careful
way. I’ve really believed lately that it’s important to be humble and
to broaden your mind and not be so peripheral. With that being said
though, I am deeply upset of our presidential decision. Well, me and
48% of the rest of the people in the United States who voted against
Bush. See, that’s what I don’t understand. The gap between the two
candidates is so small that they need to recognize that our
government, our constitution our sense for morality is what’s tearing
us apart. We need to form a unity of ideas and yes, it does seem
idealistic but what’s the hope in flourishing without hope all on its
own? This country is divided so greatly under principles and issues
that mean so much to us but in the end only build a hatred that renders
an evil we fail to disclose. We’re so heavy on religion, right? We’ve
swung the pendulum so far this time that we’ve bathed ourselves in
conservative beliefs. What I don’t understand, being a Christian
myself, is how we can have a president who uses God as a platform,
tries to add prejudice to our constitution and infringes his beliefs on
other people as legitimate. Aside from separation of Church and state,
don’t allow people to think God is ANYTHING
like you. You want to use the bible as a weapon, here’s a ricochet. In
Corinthians, it speaks about love and what a good Christian should be.
“When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like a child, I
reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind
me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; we shall see face
to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am
fully known”
This part of that verse really stood out to me. I feel we should have a
man lead our country and not a child. I would love nothing more but a
man to know fully what is being done, especially by the means of his
own actions. I would give nothing more but to have a man who really
cares for his people and by people I mean black, white, gay, straight,
etc. I would give nothing more but for Bush to stop
using God as his platform because God is all loving and this man who
will lead our country for the next four years, who runs this country on
his beliefs is manipulating a good thing and crowning it with evil. I
don’t think God likes that very much, kind of like how he doesn’t like
gays, right? I urge people not be distressed about this though because
all things happen for a reason. We’ve grown as a nation and we can’t
fail to recognize that. We’ve learn to openly voice our opinions and
not be afraid to participate in our government. We’ve seen how
important it is for change to occur and we need not forget that we
ultimately have that power. It’s not about what party you belong to,
it’s about how you carry yourself as a person and present yourself to
those around you. We’ve learned that our differences are there for
comfort and not an opposing force; we’re all different for a reason,
folks. We’re on the same side, so we need to learn to act like it.
There’s so much more I can say and wish to say but choose to end this
here for now. I know no one will probably give a shit about this, but I
do and I felt the need to practice my freedom of speech while I still
have it. If morality is as important to people this election as it was
said to be, know that we are all created equal and we can’t pick and choose who that applies to no matter the circumstances.
Frieden und Liebe,
-Beth
