Prometheus was a mixed bag. Amazing on the big screen, though very dark - as in, not bright. In the dark. So in some ways, not as much a "big screen" movie as I expected.
The acting was excellent.
I particularly loved Idris Elba, but heck, who doesn't? (Plus he is totally hot. Just sayin.) Though it is funny, because I missed him in The Wire, and so I always associate him with the kid from that ep of Ab Fab, and he is NOT THAT KID anymore.
The worst things - I thought the boyfriend of the main character was really badly written. I also just can't buy into a crew on a TRILLION DOLLAR mission through outer space, being as ignorant and weenie as some of the crew were. And the religious overtones of "looking for our makers" just seemed - off.
Still, I would say that as a movie it is on par with Alien - very similar strengths and weaknesses. If you thought Alien was great, you will probably like Prometheus. If you kept thinking during Alien, OMG WHY ARE YOU LOOKING FOR THE DAMNED CAT GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!!!!! then you will probably have similar reactions to Prometheus. :D
