"Sasuke-kun," Ino muttered, clinging to the tree she had hidden behind. She held her Tanto in her hand expertly, though it would be impossible for Sasuke to do much of anything to her.
Ino knew what she had to do as she walked towards him. Tsunade-sama had given clear orders to kill Sasuke on sight. Ino had promised that she would do that. All of Konoha 11 had.
But seeing him there, lying helpless in his own pool of blood, bones sticking out in his chest, she couldn't bring herself to kill him. She stood beside him, staring at his chest.
Her Tanto dropped to the ground. Ino pushed down her emotions - she was ashamed, disappointed, horrified - and lowered herself down to heal Sasuke's broken bones.
He lost consciousness as she worked. Her hands were shaky as she mended his bones. It took longer than it should have, draining more of her chakra than necessary. She didn't have it in her to be controlled. There were too many things going on, too many emotions, thoughts, memories, stories.
Ino picked up his body and her Tanto, struggling to make it away from the small clearing and into the denser forest. She propped him up against a tree and collapsed against the one next to his, panting.
She wants revenge for everything he's done to her, her village, her best friend, but she is unable to kill him.
