I'm struggling with the annual Throne Speech for weeks now, and looking back over previous years' entries isn't helping at all, other than to trace the path of wanton destruction across the better part of a decade now (yeah, March 2013 will mark my TEN YEAR anniversary on LJ; kinda snuck up on me, too).

When everything I write starts to sound like a suicide note, maybe it's a good time to consider skipping it this year and putting a pointer to this post about lessons learned this year instead.

I want so much to say something positive here at the dark end of the year, but when everything remotely light coming out of my mouth sounds like the cocaine-fueled, emptiness-concealing, frenetic and disconnected comedy routines of a 1980's-era Robin Williams or Eddie Murphy, I think it's maybe time to put the words down and back away.

Some things just are not meant to be written; others written but not shared. In the end I am alone with the voices I have been trying to set free all year, whether I like what they have to say or not. Maybe I should just shut the fuck up and listen.
